Piney Grove to celebrate youth choir anniversary

Piney Grove Baptist Church in the Cross-Green Community will celebrate its youth choir anniversary Saturday, April 23 at 4 p.m. Special guests will be youth choirs of Brinson Hill, Peaceful Zion, Greater St. James, Brinson Rock and Spears Grove, Noah’s Ark A.M.E., Ada Grove Pentecostal and Piney Grove. Presiding will be Diane Mills. Rev. David Edmonds is pastor is Kenneth Johnson is president.

    Bragg, Lowery, recognized at GSU

    Georgia Southern University students Leila Bragg, of Swainsboro, and Megan Lowery, of Adrian, were recently recognized at the annual Honors Day ceremony. Bragg received the Graduate Nursing Award and Lowery received the Paul G. LaGrone Scholarship.

    Earth Day

    On Thursday, April 21, Georgia Southern University will be celebrating Earth Day. Volunteers are needed to work a table for Canoochee Riverkeeper and distribute literature.     Books for sale at library

    The annual Spring Book Sale at Franklin Memorial Library is set for April 26, 27 and 28. Friends of the Library (FOL) also conduct these sales at various times when the book closet overflows. Money from the sale will enable FOL to continue its financial support of History Break, Vacation Reading Program and the purchase of movies, books and other materials for the library.
