Georgia’s Spanish-speaking population is growing faster than in any other state, according to the United States Census Bureau, so it’s crucial that agencies responsible for protecting children include social workers who speak Spanish and understand Hispanic cultures. The Wolverine patrol of Boy Scout Troop 75 camped out at the Terwilliger Pond to get in a 5-mile hike and to break out the Troop canoes for some fun on the water. Eight busted in drug sweep

In a drug bust conducted over the weekend, eight people in Emanuel County were arrested for street-level drug-related charges. The bust was conducted by officers from Emanuel County Sheriff’s Department and agents from East Central Georgia Task Force.

Arrested were:

Larry Bailey, 32, of Swainsboro, for sale of cocaine (felony).

Johnny Lee Bivins, 35, of Swainsboro, for possession of cocaine with intent to distribute (felony).

Good Shepherd to hold candlelight service

Good Shepherd Episcopal Church will hold a candlelight Christmas eve service with Holy Eucharist Friday. Dec. 24 at 8 p.m. Service will include special music and a youth Christmas play. Childcare will be provided and refreshments will be served following service.
