Local Governor’s Honors candidates are selected

Local students to represent Emanuel County in the 2005 Governor’s Honors competition were selected recently. This year Emanuel County will have five eleventh grade students competing for the opportunity to attend the six-week Governor’s Honors Program.

This year’s county representatives are Tim Jones, Mike Peaden, Amos Black and Asia Andrews of Swainsboro High School and Samantha Gay of Emanuel County Institute.

SUMMERTOWN—Funeral for Bernice Eugenia Hall Bailey, 89, was held Sunday, Nov. 14, 2004 at 2 p.m. at Summertown Baptist Church with Rev. Craig Tillman, Rev. Ed Thompson and Rev. Leonard Quick officiating. Burial was in Brinson Cemetery. She died Friday, Nov. 12, 2004 in Dublin.

Martin has been collecting memorabilia from local athletes in both the college and professional programs and welcomes more.     County Appraiser Gray to serve on Assessor Board

    In the regular monthly meeting of the Emanuel County Commission Monday night, board members chose Emanuel County Chief Tax Appraiser Daryl Gray to occupy the open position on the Tax Assessor’s board. Part of the reasoning behind choosing Gray was his familiarity with procedures of the board.
