Garland Thompson recently performed a Christmas musical program for the Swainsboro Kiwanis. Thompson, who used to teach guitar in the Augusta area, performed a number of vocal solos of Christmas songs accompanied by his guitar. He also led the club in singing a number of carols. Phi Mu collects canned goods

Sammi Jo Lawson, Phi Mu Sorority Kappa Mu Chapter member at Georgia Southern University, and chapter members collected canned goods for needy families as a philanthropy project. These can good were donated to Swainsboro Jaycees to help with the Jaycee Empty Stocking Fund. Sammi Jo Lawson is a Civil Engineer Major at Georgia Southern University and the daughter of Al Lawson of Swainsboro and the late Mary Lou Lawson.

    Eliot Bareford

    Eliot Bareford of Swainsboro recently graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design. Bareford received a master of fine arts degree in photography. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Bareford of Swainsboro.

    Amos Black of Swainsboro High School was an invited guest as the recent Southern Scholars Showcase, Dec. 2-3, on the campus of Georgia Southern University.
