Emanuel Arts Council will present “Music Americana” Friday, May 13 at 7:30 p.m.

in the Luck Flanders Gambrell Auditorium of East Georgia College. The program will include traditional folk songs, spirituals, Broadway show tunes and hymns. Director is Gilbert Westberry and accompanist is Lacey Bishop. The event is made possible through grants from Mill Creek Foundation and Georgia Council for the Arts.

Holly Boatright, brideelect of Jim Beecher, was honored at a kitchen shower brunch Saturday, April 30, at First National Bank of Swainsboro. The 10:30 a.m.

brunch was hosted by Doris Lovins, Pat Lincoln, Rosalyn McVey, Judy McWhorter, Sylvia Hooks, Dottie Rountree and Delores Phillips.

Emanuel Retired Educators will conclude its 2004-05 year with a meeting at Swainsboro Middle School Wednesday, May 18 at 12 noon. Swainsboro Fire Chief Mike Strobridge is guest speaker. New officers will be installed by Dorothy Brown, district VI director.

    The 13th annual National Association of Letter Carriers’ Food Drive will be held Saturday, May 14. Local letter carriers will collect non-perishable food donations left at mailboxes and post offices and deliver them to the Food Pantry in Swainsboro. Letter carriers in more than 10,000 cities and towns across America are expected to participate.
