David Emanuel Academy’s JV girl’s basketball team got the 2004-05 season off to a great start by winning the championship of the Twiggs Academy Tip Off Tournament in Jeffersonville this past weekend. Swainsboro Middle School Fastpitch Softball Team began region play with a victory over Dublin Thursday, Oct. 28, in Swainsboro. Macy Lawson and Jade Newsome shared the mound with a total of 11 strikeouts. Jade Newsome contributed to the win with an inside the park three run homer. ADRIAN—Funeral for Thomas Ralph Morris, 83, was held Sunday, Nov. 21, 2004 at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Sammons Funeral Home in Soperton with Rev. Tommy Veal and Rev. Gerald Palmer officiating. Burial was in Poplar Springs Cemetery in Johnson County. He died Friday, Nov. 19, 2004.

Franklin Memorial Library staff and volunteers entertained hundreds of Emanuel County children as they presented Thanksgiving Story Hour for five days. With students from Adrian Pre-K were Laughing Lily, Running Bear, Miss Johnson (pilgrim) and White Dove.
