SWAINSBORO—Funeral for Rodney Dale Goggans, Sr., 51, was held Saturday, Nov. 13 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary with Elder Tommy Rountree officiating. Burial was in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Dellwood. He died Thursday, Nov. 11 at the Emanuel Medical Center after a brief illness.

Local students to represent Emanuel County in the 2005 Governor’s Honors competition were selected recently. This year Emanuel County will have five eleventh grade students competing for the opportunity to attend the six-week Governor’s Honors Program.

This year’s county representatives are Tim Jones, Mike Peaden, Amos Black and Asia Andrews of Swainsboro High School and Samantha Gay of Emanuel County Institute.
