Chamber of commerce, development authority slates annual golf tournament

   On Friday, September 21, the Swainsboro-Emanuel County Chamber of Commerce and the Joint Development Authority (JDA) will host its 26th Annual Industry Appreciation Golf Classic at the Swainsboro Golf and County Club. Golfers will receive one lunch ticket for this event, and sponsors will receive two. Lunch will begin at 11:30 a.m., followed by a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. The tournament will be a 4-man scramble.

Gospel group to commemorate 45 years together

   The JB Gospel Singers will celebrate their 45th choir anniversary on August 26 at 2:30 p.m. at Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church in Lexsy. Local and out-of-town choirs will be on the program. All are invited to help the JB Gospel Singers celebrate. The host church’s pastor is Rev. Mario D. Webb Sr.

Defense shines as SHS battles Statesboro in scrimmage

   The Swainsboro Tigers hosted the Statesboro Blue Devils in a preseason scrimmage this past Friday night at Tiger Field, and defenses ruled the evening in this 7-0 Blue Devil victory.
