Franklin Memorial Library’s first Summer Reading Program of the season was held Tuesday, June 4, with Emanuel County Farm Bureau Women’s Committee presenting a program about the universe. Teen Advisory Board (TAB) members assisted the ladies by presenting facts about the nine planets in the universe. On Sunday, July 28, Eastwood Church of God will host a Back-To-School Bash for students enrolled in grades pre-school through 12. The event will kick off at 10:30 a.m. with morning service. Following the conclusion of service, children will enjoy a hotdog meal, inflatables, receive free school supplies, and more!

Funeral services for Bernie Dell “Lady” Norwood, 89, were held Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Trinity Baptist Church with Dr. Charles Wiggins officiating, assisted by Elder D.G. Mosley. Interment followed at Swainsboro City Cemetery. She passed away Monday, June 17, 2019.

Two individuals were slightly injured in a single-vehicle crash on Sunday, June 23. Emanuel County EMS, sheriff’s deputies, and firefighters from Canoochee Engine 312 responded to the crash by mile marker 24 on Highway 192 North around 4:25 p.m.
