On Friday, March 1, Emanuel County Family Connection partnered with the Swainsboro Kiwanis Club to celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday with the students at Early Head Start. Volunteers enjoyed reading various Dr. Seuss books as much as the children enjoyed hearing them.

On Wednesday, March 6, Nordson Corporation hosted students from Swainsboro High and Emanuel County Institute for a 21st Century Leaders career summit at the Sudie A. Fulford Learning Center on the campus of East Georgia State College.

National Beta Club Week began March 4, and Emanuel County Institute’s Junior Beta Club joined in a county-wide community service project in honor of the celebratory week. Students collected toiletries, which will be donated to area shelters. Karly Olliff, Anna Claire Davis, and Sullee Boddiford are shown with the collected items.

After a much-anticipated start, the Lady Eagles soccer season finally got underway Friday afternoon, March 8, at Eagle Field.
With a great defensive showing and the offense pounding away, David Emauel went on to win over Vidalia Heritage Academy in a 4-1 battle. The four goals were scored by Sarah Joe Perkins, Bree Wimberly, Maci Nease, and Laila Mercer.

Constance Peebles Terwilliger was inducted into the Governor David Emanuel-Adam Brinson Chapter of the DAR at the chapter’s January 10 meeting. She joined upon the record of Francis Flanders’ service during the American Revolution.
Administering the oath were chapter registrar Judy Womack and chaplain Kaye Stephens.

Spring revival will be held Monday, March 25, through Wednesday, March 27, at 7 p.m. each night for Greater Saint James Missionary Baptist Church. The guest speaker will be Pastor Benjamin J. Martin of Mount Zion MBC of Soperton and Union Hill MBC of Tennille. All members of the community are invited. Rev. Melvin Adams Jr. is pastor of the host church.

Swainsboro Primary School will host its annual PTO meeting featuring P.E./Health Night on Tuesday, March 19. Kindergarten students will present a special performance for the evening.
The event will begin with open house from 5:30 p.m. until 6 p.m. During this time, parents will be allowed to visit classrooms and speak with teachers. The PTO meeting will begin at 6 p.m. All parents and stakeholders are invited to attend.
