   At a recent Emanuel County Exchange Club meeting, Dr. Willie Gunn introduced Dr. John Derden, who presented a slideshow to the club highlighting his recent visit to historical sites in Israel.

Lady Bulldogs on an eight-game winning streak

   The Lady Bulldog softball team swept the three games played last week, defeating region opponents Claxton and McIntosh County with Metter thrown in the middle.
   ECI run-ruled all three opponents, defeating Claxton 16-1 in thee innings, Metter 11-3 in 6 innings, and McIntosh County in 5 innings 19-5.

   One of Emanuel County’s favorite sons, Eddie N. Dillard Sr., has written an account of his years in middle George and north Florida.

Deremiah, Lamb compete in festival run

   Recently, John Deremiah and 10-year-old Elijah Lamb, son of Carla Lamb, traveled to Plains, where they competed in the Plains Peanut Festival 1-mile run on September 22.

Victory on homecoming for DEA

   On Friday, September 21, David Emanuel Academy (DEA) played under its Friday night lights on their home field against rival Twiggs Academy. The Eagles celebrated homecoming with a win, 36-0.

Cowart travels with The Blade to Arkansas

   Recently, Emanuel County citizen Dot Cowart took The Blade with her to Hot Springs, Arkansas, where approximately 60 family members and friends gathered to celebrate her brother’s 90th birthday at Hot Springs Baptist Church.
   While in the area, Cowart visited the Oarlawn Race Track, where recent Triple Crown winner American Pharoah won his first race. Hot Springs is also the home of former president Bill Clinton.
