   Funeral services for Mackel Roberson, 85, of Swainsboro were held Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Tomlinson Funeral Home with Reverend Louis Pearce and Mack Griffin officiating. Interment followed at Bithynia Church Cemetery. She died Sunday afternoon, October 21, 2018 at Pruitt Health.

   Ms. Roberson was born in Emanuel County to the late Ollie and Sadie Whittington Roberson. She was of the Baptist faith.

Funeral services for Lee Jones, 55, of Swainsboro were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 in chapel of Tomlinson Funeral Home with Reverend Ricky Downs officiating. Interment followed in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Dellwood. He died Saturday, October 20, 2018  at Emanuel Medical Center.

Help effort organized for those affected by Hurricane Michael

The Georgia Association District and Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) have started a relief effort for victims impacted by Hurricane Michael.

Monetary donations can be sent to Michelle Boone at 1101L Hillcrest Pkwy, #40, Dublin, GA 31021. Other donations such as toiletry items, baby wipes, or canned goods can be taken to our local NRCS office, located at 145 North Anderson Drive in Swainsboro.

Farm Service Agency to assist local producers with ECP

Due to excessive rainfall on July 30 through August 8, some producers suffered severe erosion damage in their fields. Farms suffering severe damage due to heavy rainfall may be eligible for assistance under the Emergency Conservation Program (ECP) administered by the Emanuel County Farm Service Agency (FSA).
