Following a fast-paced national search in the fall that resulted in finalist interviews with three highly qualified candidates, East Georgia State College (EGSC) is excited to announce that Dr. Carlos Cunha has been selected as the new dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. Sunday morning fire damages Swainsboro home

A call to 911 around 10:25 a.m. on Sunday, January 20, activated emergency units to 127 Arden Drive in Swainsboro.

A fire caused by an overloaded electrical power strip destroyed some electronic equipment, damaged some contents of the room, and resulted in the electric service to the home being disconnected.

Missing Emanuel County man located

According to Chief Deputy Rocky Davis, investigators with the Emanuel County Sheriff’s Office have confirmed the whereabouts of 26-year-old Tyler Beckworth, who was reported to the department as missing on January 17.

Davis stated that Beckworth was verified to be in Baldwin County after a sheriff’s deputy ran his identifying information through the state’s database.
