For the fourth consecutive October, Hawhammock Baptist Church hosted a 30-30 Ministries’ Deer Camp for its annual kick-off to deer season.
The hunt hosted four youth, ages 13 to 15 years of age, and took place the weekend of October 12-14 in conjunction with the state’s youth deer-season opener.

In an effort to raise funds for local youth scholarships, Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church (MBC) will host a 5K Honor Run in recognition of all veterans and first responders on Saturday, November 3. Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. at the Nunez Post Office. The cost is $25 per participant.
The run will begin at 9 a.m. at the Nunez Post Office and will end at the church.

On Saturday, October 13, Junior Brinson traveled to Mount Vernon to attend the Wild Hog Festival’s car show. He placed with his show car, a ’55 Chevrolet.
The following weekend, October 20, Brinson tested his luck in showing his ’55 Chevrolet and ’70 Ford Ranchero at Wrightsville’s Wiggle and Twist Festival, where he also walked away a winner with both cars placing.

Funeral services for Wallace H. Alford, 66, of Twin City were held on Monday, October 22, 2018, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Reverend Carl Hay officiating. Emanuel County Schools is proud to announce the organization of its second annual Peanut Butter War in cooperation with Weekend Blessings, a backpack food program in Emanuel County which provides meals and snacks to school-aged children on weekends and school breaks. Funeral services for Mackel Roberson, 85, of Swainsboro were held Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Tomlinson Funeral Home with Reverend Louis Pearce and Mack Griffin officiating.
