Swainsboro High students attend workplace safety training

Doug Sikes, safety director for Crider Foods, recently hosted a 10-hour workplace safety training course for students at Swainsboro High School.

Topics covered during the training included: Introduction to OSHA, Fire Safety and Emergencies, Energy Isolation, Machine Guarding, PPE, Electrical Safety, Walking Working Surfaces, and HAZCOM.

Eighty-seven business and technology students have earned certifications in Microsoft Office Specialist programs this semester at Swainsboro High School.

Through a partnership with the Georgia Department of Education and Certiport, high school business programs across Georgia are testing centers for Microsoft Office products. SHS business students have earned credentials in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft PowerPoint after learning skills in the business courses offered at Swainsboro High School.
