Mt. Gilead MBC to celebrate 139 years

   On Sunday, September 9, Mt. Gilead Missionary Baptist Church (MBC) will host its 139th church anniversary. Sunday School will begin at 10 a.m., followed by worship service at 11:15 a.m.

   Guest churches will be McLeod, Johnson Grove, Mt. Zion, First Baptist, Rountree Grove, Union Chapel, Rountree Chapel, Rountree Island, and Robert Grove.

   Dinner will be served. All are invited.

Kite Baptist church to host homecoming, revival services

   On Sunday, September 9, Kite First Baptist Church will celebrate homecoming, with service beginning at 11 a.m. Lunch will follow.

   Following this event, the church will host revival services featuring guest speaker, Georgia Baptist South Georgia Missionary, Reverend Mike Everson. Services will begin at  7 p.m. nightly on September 10 and September 11, with Tuesday being designated to youth night. Finger foods will be served following service on Tuesday, September

Bethel UMC announces homecoming

   Beginning at 11 a.m. on Sunday, September 9, Bethel United Methodist Church (UMC), located on Cow Ford Bridge Road in Kite, will host its 182nd homecoming event since its establishment in 1836. Those in attendance are requested to bring a covered dish, as a covered-dish lunch will be served after service. Plates, cups, forks, and tea will be provided.    Graveside services for Bobby Emmitt Sowell, 82, were held Thursday, August 30, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Stillmore City Cemetery. He died Monday, August 27, 2018, at his residence.

SHS softball Tigers battling adversity
