   A celebration of life service for Mildred A. Manley, 78, was held Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 1 p.m. at Emanuel County Institute Auditorium with Pastor Teddy Pierce presiding. Interment followed at St. James AME Cemetery. She died Monday, January 21, 2019 following an extended illness.

The Honorable Robert S. Reeves was recently sworn in for his fourth term as a superior court judge for the Middle Judicial Circuit. He was sworn in by Emanuel County Probate Judge Don Wilkes.

Judge Reeves was initially elected in 2006 and began serving January 1, 2007. He was re-elected

Commissioners vote on 2019 LMIG contract

With the recent holiday of Martin Luther King Jr. falling on Monday, January 21, the Emanuel County Board of Commissioners held its first meeting of 2019 on Tuesday, January 22.

Calling the meeting to order at 6 p.m., Chairman Keith Thompson welcomed all and led invocation. Prayers for recovery of Commissioner Desse Davis were requested as he was absent from the meeting due to health issues.

Fathers and daughters invited to special dance February 8

Swainsboro-Emanuel County Recreation Department’s annual father-daughter dance will be held Friday, February 8, from 7 until 9 p.m. at the Vann Community House in Swainsboro.

Preceding the event, Mark Williams Studio will be on hand to take photographs from 5:30 until 6:30 p.m.

The dance is for girls ages 4 to 12 and their fathers (or an adult escort). Pre-registration is required, and the cost is $20 per couple.
