SHS softball battles tough region foes

The Swainsboro Tiger softball team stepped into deeper waters this past week, matching up against Bryan County and Bacon County, dropping both contests. Swainsboro lost to Bryan County 2-1 in Pembroke before losing 8-0 to Bacon County at home.

Millie Hooks, a member of Swainsboro High School’s FFA chapter, recently attended area officer training. This conference is for a select forty-eight students who were chosen to serve as area FFA officers.

Sarah Cranford Clay, 84, resident of Twin City, died Monday morning August 26, 2019, at Memorial Health University Medical Center. Mrs. Clay was born January 23, 1935 in Dry Branch, daughter of the late James David Cranford and Annie Williams Cranford. A memorial service for Robert L. Jones Sr., 74, of Twin City was held Sunday, August 25, 2019 at 1 p.m. at Williams Chapel Holiness Church with Bishop Clyde Fowler Sr., Elder Clyde Fowler Jr., and Minister Mildred Phillip officiating. The family received friends one hour prior to the service. He passed away Saturday, August 17, 2019 at Twin View Nursing Home in Twin City following an extended illness.
