Swainsboro High School held a bench dedication ceremony on the front lawn of the school for Ben Woods on Thursday, October 3.

Woods, who was a member of the Class of 2021, lost his life in a house fire last spring.

On what would have been his birthday, his family, classmates, faculty of SHS and other Tiger Trail schools, Emanuel County Schools central office staff, and community members gathered to remember a student who was full of life and personality.

Josie Drake and Sam Peebles memorialized Woods over the school’s loudspeaker so the assembled crowd outside as well as the remaining students and staff inside the building could hear the words.  Isaiah Hall finished the ceremony with the playing of “Taps.”
