The Wiregrass Chapter of the Georgia Society Sons of the American Revolution held its monthly meeting Thursday night, September 12, at New China Restaurant in Swainsboro. With President Wilder Smith Jr. presiding, there were 15 members and five guests in attendance.

The program for the evening was hosted by Vice President Steve Burke, who introduced Pastor Edward Conway, member of Long Branch Church of God in Jenkins County.

Pastor Conway presented his program on religion during the American Revolution.

President Smith then gave a report on the Brier Creek Revolutionary War Battlefield Association, Inc., a newly formed 501(c)3 corporation for the preservation and protection of that battlefield.

The association is now receiving charter memberships.

Dues are $25 per year, student dues are $10 per year, and family dues are $50 per year. Also, life memberships are as follows: Paris Mill member, $500; Georgia Militia member, $1,000; General Samuel Elbert member, $2,500; General George Washington member, $5,000; and Brier Creek Battlefield Legacy member, $25,000. Checks can be mailed to BCRWBA, Inc. at 505 North Main Street, Sylvania, GA 30467.
