William Donald “Don” Drew, 65

Graveside services for William Donald “Don” Drew, 65, of Millen were held Saturday, July 27, 2019 2 p.m. at Midville City Cemetery with Mr. Greg Coursey officiating. He passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at Augusta University Medical Center following an extended illness.

Mr. William Donald “Don” Drew was born January 14, 1954 in Wadley to the late Burwell Drew and Marie Bradham Drew. He was an accomplished musician. Drew started out with Shotgun Bluegrass in the late 70s, then played with Hickabilly Hell Cats and Dos Hombres. He was an avid guitar player but was best known for his upright bass. He loved to go fishing and enjoyed family gatherings at the Ogeechee River. Drew was a member of Brushy Creek Baptist Church in Vidette. In addition to his parents, Drew was preceded in death by his son, Dalton Drew.

Survivors include his wife for more than 40 years, Donna Drew of Millen; sons, Billy Bradshaw of Palatka, Florida, and Don (Augusta) Drew and Dillon Drew, both of Midville; daughters, Kristie (David) Wise of Palatka, Jennifer (Chris) McKenzie Drew of Swainsboro, Kimberly (Michael) Springer of Smyrna; brothers, Platt Drew of Palatka, and Jody Drew and Doug Drew, both of Swainsboro; 12 grandchildren, with an additional one on the way; 1 great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Chapman Funeral Home of Swainsboro was in charge of arrangements.
