Verlie Mae Bobbitt, 83

   Funeral services for Verlie Mae Bobbitt, 83, of Lexsy were held Saturday, August 3, 2019 at 1 p.m. at Gethsemane Baptist Church with Pastor Mario Webb serving as eulogist. Interment followed at Phillips Cemetery. She passed away peacefully at Pruitt Health on Saturday, July 27, 2019, surrounded by her loving family and caregivers.

Mrs. Verlie Mae Bobbitt was born July 18, 1936 in Emanuel County to the late H.S. Phillips Sr. and Clara Phillips. She was married to the late Benjamin Bobbitt. She was a devoted short-order cook, working for many years at the Huddle House before later retiring from Waffle King. Bobbitt was a member of Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, where she faithfully served on the usher board and was a member of the JB Gospel Singers.

Survivors include one daughter, Melody Phillips of Stillmore; her brother, Leroy Phillips of Stillmore; sister, Genevea Wadley of Swainsboro; one granddaughter; four great-granddaughters; and other relatives.

Pallbearers were nephews of Bobbitt.

Mosley’s Funeral Home of Swainsboro was in charge of arrangements.
