Swainsboro softball off to a good start

The Swainsboro Tigers kicked off the season with a busy week, five games total, winning three and losing twice. First-year head coach Alicia Hendrix has prepared the girls to begin a tough schedule, and her team hit the ground running.

First up, Swainsboro opened their season last Tuesday by hosting the ECI Bulldogs. ECI got the scoring going with 3 runs in the third inning, but Swainsboro answered back with 3 runs in the bottom half to keep the game tied. The Bulldogs added 4 more runs in the fifth inning and the Tigers followed with single runs in the sixth and seventh innings, but it was not enough, and Swainsboro dropped their opener 7-5.

The Tigers traveled to Portal on Wednesday and carried a 4-0 lead midway through the contest. Swainsboro added 2 more runs in the sixth inning, winning their first game of the season, 6-3.
