On Monday, August 12, a female driver was injured when she collided with an 18-wheeler on Highway 192 North by mile marker 26.

Emanuel County EMS, firefighters and Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the scene. The driver of a 4-door Hyundai Elantra was headed north when she apparently fell asleep and side-swiped the left rear tire of the Hyundai HT trailer-van headed south. This activated the side airbag curtains and the driver lost control of the vehicle, which continued across the southbound lane, went over the shoulder of the roadway, and ended up in brush against a tree. She was removed from the vehicle and transported to Emanuel Medical Center by EMS.

Twin City Fire Department Brush 20 and Squad 20 responded to the scene. Sheriff’s deputies conducted the crash investigation.
