Fourteen sentenced in Superior Court

During Emanuel County Superior Court’s April 2019 term, the following were sentenced:

Samuel Lamar Carlyle Jr. negotiated a plea of guilty (Alford) on one count sale of methamphetamine and one count sale of marijuana. He was sentenced to 30 years, 5 years of which are to be served in confinement and the remainder on probation. He also negotiated a plea of guilty (Alford) on one count simple assault (reduced). For this, he was sentenced to 12 months confinement.

Joshua Trenton Neesmith negotiated a plea of guilty (Alford) on one count theft by taking. An additional charge, second-degree burglary, was deemed nol pros. He was fined $250 and sentenced to 10 years, 70 days in confinement and the remainder on probation.

Jesse James Jones negotiated a plea of guilty (Alford) on one count possession of amphetamine and one count possession of tramadol. Jones was sentenced to six years, three years in confinement and the remaining three on probation.

Cody Lee Kirby negotiated a plea of guilty on one count aggravated stalking and was sentenced to 10 years with the first three to be served in confinement. Kirby also negotiated a plea of guilty on one count aggravated assault and was sentenced to 20 years, serve three.

Kristi Ann Jacobs negotiated two pleas of guilty, one count criminal attempt to furnish items to inmates and one count possession of methamphetamine. She was sentenced to five years probation and received credit from time served in custody March 25, 2018.

Mitchell Cecil Jones negotiated a plea of guilty on one count battery (reduced from felony) and was sentenced to 12 months.

Kathy Suzanne Simpson negotiated two pleas of guilty on one count criminal attempt to furnish prohibited items to inmates and one count possession of methamphetamine. With an additional charge of possession of firearm by first offender probationer being deemed nol pros, Simpson was sentenced to five years with the first 365 days to be served in jail. He received credit for time served March 25, 2018.

Norman Jackson Samples negotiated a plea of guilty for one count theft by receiving stolen property and was sentenced to 12 months, six to be served in confinement.

Bobby Joe Jackson negotiated a plea of guilty (Alford) on one count possession of cocaine and one count possession of firearm by convicted felon. He was sentenced to eight years probation.

During the court’s June 2019 term, the following individuals were sentenced:

Jeffery Dean Jones negotiated a plea of guilty (Alford) on one count aggravated assault. He was sentenced to 15 years probation.

Marcus Williams negotiated a plea of guilty (Alford) on one count theft of lost or mislaid property. He was sentenced to 10 years probation.

Shannon O’Brian McKinney negotiated a plea of guilty (Alford) on one count possession of methamphetamine and one count possession of marijuana. McKinney was fined $300 and sentenced to three years probation.

Glenn Eugene Willis negotiated a plea of guilty (Alford) on one count first-degree vehicular homicide and one count disregarding traffic control device. He was sentenced to 15 years probation. Two other charges, one count driving under the influence and an additional count of first-degree vehicular homicide, were deemed nol pros.

Monica Jasmine Lanier negotiated a plea of guilty on one count possession of a firearm by a first offender probationer. She was fined $500 and sentenced to five years probation.
