During last week’s executive session, Swainsboro City Council and Mayor Charles Schwabe approved the transfer of the Emanuel County Senior Center building to the County of Emanuel. In doing so, the county will be held responsible for all costs moving forward. Parker made the motion, Sue Bragg made the second, and the vote was 6–0.

Also, mayor and council discussed an incident regarding Swainsboro Police Department. Two officers were suspended with pay pending the results of an ongoing investigation. Rita Faulkner made the motion, Bragg seconded, and the vote was 4–2 with Johnny Parker and Bobbie Collins approving while Johnny Ray Stafford and Julian Sconyers opposed.

Swainsboro City Council will reconvene Monday, August 5, at 6 p.m. at City Hall.
