The Kiwanis Club of Swainsboro held its weekly meeting Tuesday, May 28, at Catered Creations at 7 p.m. with President Cheryl Goodman presiding. Twenty-two members and two guests, Breana Librizzi and Bill Breedlove, attended.
The program for the evening was hosted by Dianna Wedincamp, who introduced Librizzi. She is a dual enrollment student at Emanuel County Institute and East Georgia State College. She is a member of both Future Business Leaders of America and Circle K.
While at the meeting, Librizzi presented a program on her Little Free Library service project.
Little Free Library is a non-profit organization that aims to inspire a love of reading, build community, and spark creativity by fostering neighborhood book exchanges around the world. More than 75,000 book exchanges are registered with the organization and branded as Little Free Libraries. Little Free Libraries are present in 88 countries and are places where millions of books are exchanged each year. The aim of Little Free Library is increasing access to books for readers of all ages and backgrounds.
Librizzi explained the five steps in her plan to build her Little Free Library in Garfield. Because she likes Dr. Seuss, she plans to build her library with a Dr. Seuss theme. The Kiwanians were encouraged to donate books to get Librizzi started, and Wedincamp has volunteered to act as a collection person for her.
