BOE holds June meeting

The Board of Education convened for its regularly scheduled monthly meeting at 7 p.m. on Monday, June 10.
During superintendent comments, Dr. Kevin Judy announced the following:
• The board heard updates on the end-of-year celebration and gift bags disbursed to staff. Board members were also presented gift bags and commended for their work.
• Board members were presented an academic update from Dr. Judy, which detailed highlights of increased proficient and distinguish learners and a decrease in beginner levels across the school district, as well as a 21 percent decrease in discipline referrals. Dr. Judy commended staff and students on their dedicated work throughout the recent school year.
• The announcement of a state health employee contribution holiday was also made. This will allow the school system exemption from June employee healthcare contributions.
• Dr. Judy was thrilled to announce the future formation of 4T—Teams Transforming Teachers Together, which will include the partnership of the Georgia Leadership Institution for School Improvement (GLISI), the South Regional Education Board (SREB), and school districts of Emanuel, Burke, and Jefferson counties.
