Compatriot Ruskin Powell, historian for the Wiregrass Chapter of the Georgia Society Sons of the American Revolution, traveled to the Midway Cemetery in Midway on Sunday, April 28, to present the Wiregrass Chapter’s wreath at the commemoration of the grave marking of five Patriot soldiers who served during the American Revolution. These five Patriots were William Girardeau, Robert Quarterman, Thomas Quarterman, John Stacy Jr., and Peter Winn.

A biography of each Patriot was read, his marker was unveiled, and a single musket volley was fired by the SAR militia with their 50 caliber flintlock rifles.

In addition to presenting a wreath for the Wiregrass Chapter, Powell also presented a wreath as a dual member of the Mill Creek Chapter.

Compatriot Dess Smith III presented wreaths as a dual member for the Four Rivers and the Fall Line Chapters, and Compatriot Lee Smith presented a wreath for the Brier Creek Chapter.
