On Saturday, May 11, Swainsboro High School’s track team competed in the state track meet at Berry College in Rome.

The 4×100-meter relay team of Ja’von Brown, AJ Cook, KJ Starnes, AJ Kingsberry and Juan Brown finished second in Class AA with a time of 42.07, just 5 hundredths of a second off the school record of 42.02 set in 2007.

Kingsberry, a junior, finished third in Class AA in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.83. He also finished second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.24.

“I’m extremely proud of the way our guys competed. Each and every one of them worked hard all season long and earned the right to be considered one of the top track programs in the state,” said coach Dwight Smith.

The Tigers will return the majority of their track members next season and are looking forward to making a strong push towards the state championship in 2020.
