Swainsboro High students finish last leg of virtual marathon

Students in Whitney Brown and Jane McLeod’s class at Swainsboro High School recently completed their Achilles Kids marathon.

Achilles Kids is a free program that provides physical activity integrated with educational components. The 26.2-mile marathon is done virtually through a year-long gym activity that calls students to complete a number of laps per week. The laps are counted and converted into miles, then charted as a map of their town.

While the students tackle the long-term accomplishment of completing the marathon, they are also realizing short-term achievements based on meeting weekly goals.
