Swainsboro Elementary School recently founded an art club, Creative Cubs, with a pilot group of 15 students, five from each grade level.

Participating students were selected on the merits of artwork they created on the topic of “What Art Means to Me.” These works were judged by Desmal Purcell, art instructor at East Georgia State College.

Creative Cubs’ members include Weston Lee, Lauren Henry, Elizabeth Rose Polke, John Crapps, Kamm Bell, Daylan Riner, Aniston O’Dell, Dei’Vion Davis, Yazz Bell, Malyiah Jones, Faith Turner, Brandon Farley, Kencerio Walker, Jezelle Ros, and Natalee Bush.

The group had their first meeting after school on Wednesday, April 24, during which they painted picture frames and planned future art projects.

Two additional meetings are slated for this school term.

Amy Holton, Cheryl Hughes, Antwantette Green, and Amber Street are the advisors of Creative Cubs.
