Funeral services for Ellen Lavonia Hudson, 87, of Oak Park were held Friday, May 10, 2019 at 3 p.m. at Oak Park Church of God with Aaron Moncrief officiating. Burial followed at Oak Park City Cemetery. She died Tuesday, May 8, 2019 at her home after an extended illness.
Mrs. Ellen Lavonia Hudson was a lifelong resident of Oak Park and retired as a pharmacy technician from Chandler Pharmacy and Pittman’s Pharmacy in Metter. She was a member of Oak Park Church of God, was a songwriter, and enjoyed singing, sewing, fishing, and helping people. She was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend D.L. Hudson; a son, Joseph Larry Hudson; parents, Joe and Geneva Hardee; a sister, Mary Lou Peebles; a brother, Willard Hardee; and one great-great-grandson, Hunner Lane Cox.
Survivors include three daughters, Edie (Kyle) Norton of Vidalia and Elaine (Benny) Cox and Barbara (Raymond) Garrett, all of Oak Park; two sisters, Dorothy (Ed) Feltman of Alabama and Jo Ann (Russell) Burkett of Vidalia; and one brother, David (Betina) Hardee of Statesboro; five grandchildren, Sheila Caraway, Deloris Kersey, Phillip Cox, Sharon Fitch, and Pam Hacker; 12 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Phillip Cox, Matthew Cox, Joey Cox, Matt Hacker, Kyle Carter, Stacy Wheeler, Jeremy Holcombe, Alfred Jones, Josh Lenard, and Dustin Stewart.
