Board of ed recognizes valedictorians, salutatorians during Monday’s meeting

The Emanuel County Board of Education convened for its regularly scheduled monthly meeting on Monday, May 13, at 7 p.m. at the central office.

Student recognition honoring valedictorians Anna Wiggins (ECI), Esmeralda Hernandez (SHS); salutatorians Camryn Rountree (ECI) and Charlsey Kelly (SHS); and FFA and CTI state participants were first on the agenda and were presented by Assistant Superintendent Toni Terwilliger and Stefanie Mason, director of assessment and Career, Technical, and Agriculture Education.

Following, Chandra Hooks presented summer feeding program information to board members. This year will consist of community stops in Swainsboro and Twin City. An additional route to provide meals to students who reside in the Oak Park area will be included as well.

Superintendent Dr. Kevin Judy then provided an ECI renovation update to board members, which will include full renovations and modifications throughout the school. The project is estimated to be completed within a 7-week time period and will begin…
