Shirley Ann Henry, 69

   Graveside services for Shirley Ann Henry, 69, were held Friday, April 5, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Holton Chapel Cemetery with Reverend Morris Brantley officiating. She passed away Tuesday morning, April 2, 2019 at the Coliseum Medical Center in Macon.

Born in Emanuel County, Mrs. Shirley Ann Henry was one of nine children born to the late Jake Dan Wilkerson and Mary Lucile Hall Wilkerson. She was raised in Swainsboro and attended Swainsboro High School. In the mid-1960s while attending an event at the Record Hop in Swainsboro, she met Treutlen County native Larry Henry. They married in 1966 and, upon his discharge from the U.S. Army, moved to Soperton. Henry worked at Bill’s Dollar Store in Soperton for a short time before devoting her time to being a full-time homemaker. She was a longtime, devoted member of Holton Chapel Advent Christian Church, where she had served as church treasurer since 1974. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings Norma Roberson, Jane Bedgood, Donnie Wilkerson, Johnny Wilkerson, and Danny Wilkerson.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years; their son, David Henry of Soperton; three sisters, Caroline (Jerry) Odom of Swainsboro, Tricia (Wayne) Mason of Swainsboro, and Jackie (Wesley) King of Norristown; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Brandon Bush, Tom Bush, Tony Bush, Kanen Bush, Dustin Hughes, and Donnie Hughes.

Sammons Funeral Home of Soperton was in charge of arrangements.
