Smith receives two GASSAR awards

The board of management for the Georgia Society – Sons of the American Revolution (GASSAR) held its annual conference January 25 and January 26 at the Sonesta Hotel in Duluth.
During the conference, Dess Smith III was presented two awards. President Major General Donald Burdick of the GASSAR bestowed to him the President General Robert B. Vance Sr. Membership Trophy for 2018 for his sponsoring the greatest number of new members for the GASSAR (32).
Smith also received the SAR’s Patriot Medal, the highest award for exceptional services to the society. Three other members of the GASSAR received this medal as well.
Smith is the registrar for the Wiregrass Chapter. Attending the conference with him were Wilder Smith Jr., Steve Burke, Lee Smith, Chip Durden, Jane Durden, and Ginny Smith.
