Region playoffs begin for Swainsboro basketball teams

The first leg of the season is down for both Swainsboro Tiger teams, and the region playoffs present the next challenge later this week. The Lady Tigers finished with a No. 2 seed and 14-2 region record while the boys finished with a 9-5 record and No. 3 seed. The outcome is far from decided within the region as both squads will face difficult tests to advance to a region championship game on Saturday night.

The Lady Tigers have been impressive this season, losing two close games to region No. 1 seed Bryan County. However, the Woodville-Tompkins girls are the No. 3 seed and just as dangerous at 13-3 in the region, a team Swainsboro will likely have to battle with on Friday night in the semifinals. The Tigers are tough team to defend because they complement each other so well. Aaliyah Hughes and Dynesha Brown are amazing defenders and turn the floor into a racetrack.
