Mr. and Mrs. Overstreet celebrate 50 years of matrimony

On January 19 from 4 until 7 p.m., friends and family of Mr. Jimmy and Mrs. Patsy Overstreet gathered at the Swainsboro Shrine Club to celebrate the couple’s 50th wedding anniversary. The event was hosted by Jimmy’s brother, Patsy’s sister, and their nieces and nephews, along with their families.

A social from 4 until 5:30 p.m. preceded a buffet-style meal. The attending persons were treated to grilled chicken, potato salad, green beans, tossed salad, deviled eggs, rolls, tea, and bottled water with customized 50th anniversary labels. Guests were also served cake, which was cut using a special knife the couple received at their wedding. The cake knife was engraved at the time of their marriage and again to celebrate their 50th anniversary.
