Michael “Mike” Ray Thigpen, 50

   Funeral services for Michael “Mike” Ray Thigpen, 50, of Swainsboro were held Thursday, February 7, 2019 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Reverend Cail Pressey officiating. Interment followed at Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery. He passed away Monday, February 4, 2019 at Emanuel Medical Center following a brief illness.

Mr. Michael “Mike” Ray Thigpen was born June 22, 1968 in Swainsboro to Ray Thigpen and Margie Douglas Halligan. He lived most of his life in Soperton before moving to Swainsboro. Thigpen attended Heart of Georgia Technical College, where he received a degree in welding. He loved hunting, fishing, riding 4-wheelers, and especially loved his pets, Boogie, Girly, and P-Joe. Thigpen was a member of Southside Baptist Church and had been attending Blackville Church of God. He was preceded in death by his father; maternal grandparents, S.A. “Tincy” Douglas and Auline Hooks Douglas; and paternal grandparents, Ben and Irene Thigpen.

Survivors include his mother; special aunt, Glenda Avery of Swainsboro; aunt, Beulah (Kent) Graham of Adrian; uncle, Travis (Sharon) Thigpen of Adrian; and a host of cousins, other family members, and friends.

Pallbearers were Van Harris, Orlando Noble, Benji Calhoun, Tommy Cullens Jr., Rodney Posey, Jr., Curt Sutton, and Rusty Brown.

Chapman Funeral Home of Swainsboro was in charge of arrangements.
