   Funeral services for Judy Braddy Tapley, 66, of Swainsboro were held Thursday, February 7, 2019 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Reverend Franklin Sasser officiating. She passed away peacefully Sunday, February 3, 2019 at Emory University in Atlanta following an extended illness.

Mrs. Judy Braddy Tapley was born on December 28, 1952 in Swainsboro to C. T. Braddy and Mary Murphy Kent. She was a graduated from Swainsboro High School in 1970 and graduated beauty school in 1972. She highly enjoyed working for Swainsboro Primary School for many years. Tapley’s passions were spending time with her granddaughters, reading, and cheering on her favorite sports teams, the Atlanta Braves, Atlanta Falcons, and Georgia Bulldogs. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Swainsboro. Tapley was preceded in death by her father and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. C. T. Braddy Sr. and Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Murphy.

Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Johnny E. Tapley Jr. of Swainsboro; son, Jon E. (Kristin) Tapley III of Woodstock; her mother and step-father, Mary Murphy (Dana) Kent of Swainsboro; sister, Jan B. (James) Slater of Swainsboro; brother, Dana Cassidy (Melanie) Kent of Martinez; granddaughters, Mary and Murphy Tapley of Woodstock, and a host of several nieces, nephews, and many friends.  

Honorary pallbearers were the Swainsboro High School Class of 1970.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital.

Chapman Funeral Home of Swainsboro was in charge of arrangements.
