During the evening hours of Friday, January 11, emergency personnel were dispatched to 3017 Canoochee Garfield Road for a male who had been burned during a barrel explosion.
The victim, 25-year-old Cody Scott, was cutting the top off of a 55-gallon steel drum when vapors from a former product ignited violently, injuring and burning the victim and causing damage to the roof system of the building.
Scott was transported by EMS to ECI’s football field in Twin City, where he was loaded into an AirEvac helicopter and transported to Augusta.
Responding to the call were Canoochee Fire Deparment, Emanuel County sheriff’s deputies, and Emanuel County EMS.
