Vasher, Palumbo win Resolution Run 5K

On the warm, humid morning of January 1, 2019, runners descended upon the campus of East Georgia State College in Swainsboro for the running of the 6th Annual Kiwanis Resolution Run 5K.

Registration for the run began at 7:30 a.m. with the official start at 9 a.m.

The run, sponsored by the Swainsboro Kiwanis Club, was held to raise money for the Kiwanis Club’s many community projects. This year could have been considered the year of the great grandmasters with two runners over 70-years-old and two runners over 80.

The overall winner in the male division was Brendan Vasher from Richmond Hill with a time of 20 minutes and 5 seconds. The overall winner in the female division was Jessica Palumbo from Swainsboro with a time of 25:38. The male masters’ division winner was Mike Littlefield from Richmond Hill with a time of 21:27, and the female masters’ winner was Liliana Colley from Vidalia with a time of 30:13.

Age 50-59 1. Randall Beach 2. Kevin Faircloth 3. Tracey Edenfield

Age 60-69 1. Tom Lamb 2. Hayward Altman

Age 70+ 1. Ray Miller 2. John Torpy

Age 80+ 1. Bill Briggs

Age 20-29 1. Julie Freeman
