Rev. Wilmer Eugene Hall Sr., 87

   Funeral services for Rev. Wilmer Eugene Hall Sr., 87, of Metter were held Friday, December 28, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Mt. Shady Baptist Church with Rev. Rusty Moore officiating, assisted by Rev. Bunny Hudson. Interment followed at Mt. Shady Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Ervin Stapleton officiating. He died Tuesday, December 25, 2018 at his residence.

Brother Wilmer Eugene Hall Sr. was born September 27, 1931 in Kite, Johnson Country, to the late Gene and Edna Mae McGowan Hall. He graduated from Liberty University and was minister of Mt. Shady Baptist Church from 1969 until his retirement in 2008. Brother Wilmer was also a retired school bus driver for the Emanuel County Board of Education and a farmer. He was a member of the Mt. Shady Baptist Church, loved his family and all who affectionately called him “Pa Hall,” and, in addition to his parents, was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy Canady Hall; daughters, infant daughter and Dorothy Jean Hall; sister, Lizzie Mae Douglas; and brothers, William D. Hall and Archie Hall.

Survivors include one daughter, Catherine (Wayne) Page of Metter; one son, Gene Hall of Hilton Head, South Carolina; one stepsister, Elise Taylor of Pooler; one stepbrother, William Ray Scarboro of Pooler; six grandchildren, Ashley (Harriett) Page, Jeremy (Karen) Page, Mandy (Rusty) Moore, Becky (Bill) Jaquish, Raven (Paul) Tschida, and Logan Hall; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Pallbearers were deacons Andy Dixon, Mitchell Edenfield, Joey Goodman, Tom Phillips, Wayne Jukes, Henry Collins, David Steptoe, and Lynn Edenfield. Honorary pallbearers were attending ministers and wives as well as inactive deacons and wives.

Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors was in charge of arrangements.
