Patricia “Patty” Ann Cowart, 83

   Funeral services for Patricia “Patty” Ann Cowart, 83, of Swainsboro will be held Saturday, January 12, 2019, at 2 p.m. at Swainsboro First United Methodist Church with Reverend Nick Hazleton officiating, assisted by Reverend David Unkles. Interment will follow at Old Cannoochee Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Swainsboro First United Methodist Church on January 12 from 12:30 p.m. until time of service. She died Tuesday, January 8, 2019, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Facility of Winston Salem, North Carolina.

Mrs. Patricia “Patty” Ann Cowart was born February 1, 1935, in Lyons, Toombs County, to the late James Herbert and Mary Pauline Peebles Hall. She grew up in Twin City and was a graduate of Emanuel County Institute (ECI). Cowart was a member of Swainsboro First United Methodist Church, Gordon Fountain Sunday School Class, Mae Vann Group United Methodist Women, serving on the administrative board, was past chairman of the Evangelism Committee and taught youth Sunday school for many years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie James Cowart Sr.; son, Charlie James Cowart Jr.; sister, Gloria Jean Hall Anderson; and brother, James Larry Hall.

Pallbearers are  Sidney Lanier, John Torpy, Bill Rogers, Gene Ragsdale, Henry Terwilliger, Robert Coleman, Milton Gray, and Frank Canady.

Survivors include one daughter, Diane Cowart (Tommy) Hinzman of Winston Salem, North Carolina; one granddaughter, Mallory Hinzman; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the  Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Way, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or Swainsboro First United Methodist Church, 319 W Main St., Swainsboro, GA  30401.

Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.
