Funeral services for Jennifer Lei Meeks Chitwood, 35, were officiated by Reverend Fr. Ben Day and Pastor Chad Kennison. She was laid to rest January 22, 2019 at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park in Marietta. She died January 17, 2019 at her home in Kennesaw surrounded by family and friends after an extended illness.
Jennifer Lei Meeks Chitwood—wife, mother, daughter, and friend to all—was born September 13, 1983 in Laurens County. She was educated in the Emanuel County school system, and she earned a master’s in elementary education. Chitwood loved teaching first grade. She was talented in art, loved nature, and loved animals, especially her dog, Alex, and adopted cats, Liz and Sammy. Chitwood had many devoted friends that impacted her life. The power of her smile was admired by all who knew her. She was loved by her family and will truly be missed. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Randolph Meeks, Gladys Meeks, H. B. Ely, and Gladys Dorsey Harrell; her step-grandfather, George Harrell; and her step-grandmother, Shirley Nun Ely.
Survivors include her husband, Jason L. Chitwood; her daughter, Emily Faye Chitwood; her mother, Faye Ely Hall of Swainsboro; her father, Randall Meeks of Meeks; her step-father, Donald Hall of Swainsboro; her brother, Troup Brinson of Swainsboro; Kris Meeks (Marcia) of Statesboro; her nieces, Lilly Meeks and Izzy Meeks; and her nephews, Zachary Brinson, Tyler Brinson, and Dylan Meeks.
Pallbearers were Larry Ely, James Ely, Paul Kennedy, Jr, Curtis Chitwood, Derek Chitwood, and Noel Gerwick.
Georgia Funeral and Care of Acworth was in charge of arrangements.
