On Thursday, January 3, emergency units were dispatched at 8:12 a.m. to Highway 192 North by mile marker 20 for an overturned log truck.
First responders found the highway blocked and the injured driver still in the cab.
Once removed from the vehicle, he was transported to the Augusta trauma center by Emanuel County EMS. Heavy wreckers were required to remove the tractor-trailer.
The clean-up of the scattered logs required the roadway to be shut down from time to time, which impacted traffic on this busy road. The roadway was finally opened to full traffic around noon.
Responding to the call were Twin City Fire Department, County Rescue 1 from Swainsboro, Emanuel County EMS, Emanuel County sheriff’s deputies, Randy’s Wrecker Service, troopers from Georgia State Patrol, and MCCD.
