According to Sheriff Alvie (Junior) Kight, on January 4 at approximately 5:42 a.m., Toombs County deputies were dispatched to a 2-vehicle accident on Highway 297 at Mosley Road.

When officers arrived on the scene, there was one SUV in the ditch and another SUV sitting in the roadway. Both of the involved vehicles suffered extensive damage, and it was obvious that the crash had occurred head-on. Officers checked on the drivers of the vehicles, who both appeared to be deceased. There were no other occupants in either vehicle. EMA was called to the scene to remove the victims, Shaquanna Renee Boynton, 29-year-old female of Swainsboro, and Lonnie Gary Vasser, 55-year-old male of Vidalia.

Toombs County Sheriff’s Office and Georgia State Patrol are in charge of the investigation.
