The Beta Beta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International held its final meeting of 2018 on Monday evening, November 26, at Catered Creations.

Beautiful red poinsettias adorned each table and podium, and President Tammy Gray thanked hostesses Jana Lee (chairman), Vikki Womack, Rebecca McNeely, Beverly Lawson, Tracy Coxwell, Miriam Hardy, Joan Davis, Cissy Peebles, Jessica English, Mary Ann Peebles, and Kristie Irvin.

McNeely gave the inspiration from Advent Devotionals. She Read “A Prayer to Put Jesus First This Christmas Season” by Debbie McDaniel. The scripture reference was Luke 2:7. She then blessed the meal.

Amanda Freeman, social committee chair, introduced the much-anticipated Christmas program, Dr. Gene Hundley, Swainsboro Middle School band director, and two talented students. Daniel Cruz, sophomore at Swainsboro High School, played the flute, and Jayson Brown, eighth grader, played the saxophone. They presented beautiful Christmas selections that all thoroughly enjoyed and put everyone in the Christmas spirit. Dena Walden, third grade teacher at Twin City Elementary, also entertained with two beautiful vocal Christmas selections, and Dr. Hundley reminded everyone of the band dinner fundraiser on December 14.

Melanie Frye, chair of the projects committee, thanked the group for their gifts of goody bags to be presented to each new teacher in the service systems. She also reminded everyone of the bakeless bake sale in January.

Kelli Torpy of the communications committee encouraged all to view chapter activities on Facebook.

Hostesses drew numbers for the poinsettias, then the meeting was adjourned.

The chapter’s next meeting will be held January 28, 2019.
