Gilbert to be featured in children’s magazine

National children’s magazine Scholastic News has selected Junior Miss Five Hills Dorianna Gilbert to be featured in its December 10 issue, focusing on child philanthropists for her work with a junior homecoming dance to raise awareness for kids with dyslexia.

Dorianna raised more than $1,800 for dyslexia awareness and donated the funds to kids in her school district that suffer from dyslexia. Although she doesn’t suffer from dyslexia, Dorianna has a friend that was being bullied and decided to promote dyslexia awareness in an effort to raise awareness and put an end to bullying.

She also stood alongside the mayor of Austin, Texas, as he declared a proclamation making October Dyslexia Awareness Month.
