SHS celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

   The United States celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 through October 15. This celebration commemorates the contributions of Hispanic people to American culture.
   Swainsboro High School Spanish teachers Alexandra Flowers and Silvana Ibañez, along with the Spanish Club, prepared a program for SHS Spanish students to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month on September 27.
   The program’s main topic was “quinceañeras,” which is one of the most representative celebrations of Hispanic culture. Quinceañeras are a celebration of a girl’s 15th birthday and are comparable to a girl’s sweet 16 party in the U.S.
