Norristown crash results in a death

   On Thursday evening, October 11, shortly after 6 p.m., 911 operators began receiving numerous reports of a serious crash at the intersection of Highway 80 West and Highway 221.

   First arriving units found a scene of devastation involving a 2016 Nissan Rogue overturned on the grass at the Norristown Fire Station, and a 47-foot tractor-trailer sitting on a 45-degree angle with the tractor owned by Over the Road Xpress Inc of Miami, Florida, embedded into a white house located on the southwest corner of the intersection.

   The force of the collision moved the house off its foundation and partly collapsed a portion of the structure on top of the tractor.

   The injured female operator of the car was removed and transported to Emanuel Medical Center by EMS.

   Unfortunately, the 47-year-old truck driver from Florida was declared deceased at the scene.
