New SAR Chapter picks name

The new Washington County Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution held its second organizational meeting on Tuesday, September 11, at 7 p.m. at the Farm Bureau Building in Sandersville. There were 25 members in attendance, and President Sandy Mercer presided.
After President Mercer called the meeting to order and led the invocation, four-way pledge, and pledge to the American Flag, Compatriot Dess Smith III was asked to present the program for the evening.
Smith’s program was a 22-minute video named “Hero of the Hornets Nest and War Woman.” This video was commissioned in the fall of 2017 to a North Carolina film company. The film will be used in all high schools in the state of Georgia to show the relationship of present day citizens soldiers (Georgia Army National Guard} to Patriots that founded this great country during the American Revolution.
