Neva D. “Susie” Akridge

   Funeral services for Neva D. “Susie” Akridge, 64, of Swainsboro will be held Wednesday, October 10, 2018, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Reverend Tim Price and Elder Tommy Rountree officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Olive Primitive Baptist Church in Aline. She passed away Sunday, October 6, 2018, at St. Joseph’s Candler following an extended illness.

   Mrs. Neva D. “Susie” Akridge was born August 9, 1954, in Reidsville to the late R.E. “Red” Durden and Oletta Kersey Durden.She grew up in Aline and moved to Emanuel County in 1975. Akridge was an LPN, loved to travel, and loved to go shopping. She loved her family very much and kept her family together. During her nursing career, she worked as an OB and delivery nurse at Emanuel Medical Center and was a nurse at Emanuel County Schools. In addition to her parents, Akridge was preceded in death by her sister, Sherry Durden; step-sister Gail Williams; brother, Smutty Durden; and step-brothers, Aubrey Wilds and Larry Wilds.

   Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Ralph Akridge; daughters; Donya (Steve Hyde) Radford, Autumn (Kenneth) Allen of Sardis, Gail (Rollie) Turner of Summertown, Doris (Joe) Colston of Bartow, and Susan (David) Akridge of Wrightsville; sons; Albert (Johanna) Gay, Jay (Roxanne) Gay of Norristown, Charles (Ellen) Akridge, Dennis Akridge of Norristown, and David (Betsy Wetzel) Akridge of Stillmore; brother, William “Bill” (Sherri) Collins; 34 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and a host of several nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Pallbearers are Charles Akridge, David Akridge, Phillip Akridge, Clint Akridge, Austin Farrow, Wesley Farrow, Gatlin Farrow, Brandon Gay, and Bryan Akridge.

    Chapman Funeral Home of Swainsboro is in charge of the arrangements.
